After Hours

Here you will find some of the creative poetry and prose that I have written over the years. This includes some dabbling in music and sound, and a game called COBOL’s Revenge.

Poetry (only a select few)

The Stairway

The stairway I climb is arduous,
Fraught with peril,
But high in reward,
Closer inspection reveals,
Each step is of an odd shape,

A colleague, family member or friend,
And if I step on it too hard,
It might give way,
And I will tumble and fall to the bottom,
Where I must begin the slow climb again,
As I take each step up to the next,
I must remember to thank the previous,
For it bore the burden of my weight,
And the soil from my shoe,

After all I too am a step,
In someone else’s stairway.

Putting It Off

Things overdue pile under things-to-do,
As the pile grows a sinking feeling emerges,
Ambition flees bound for a new home,
Where has all the energy gone?

The wreckage of half completed tasks,
Strewn piles of mess scattered about the floor,
Organization now a meaningless foreign word,
Cleanup… am I depressed?

Wanting accomplishment is no more,
I am Atlas to my failing success,
I ponder the possibility of improvement,
But holding my breath tantamount to suicide.

COBOL’s Revenge (Classical RPG)

In the beginning, Ibum was ruled by King Jobs. The heir to the throne would be one of his twin sons. Baron Page was a benevolent and kind son, while Lord Bill was a cunning opportunist. As King Jobs became older, it was his hope that Baron Page would take the throne and be ruler of bum. Lord Bill had other plans though. When their father died, the two sons began fighting. Soon, all of Ibum became divided on who should succeed the throne. Lord Bill, who had the loyalty of the Royal Army, ordered the Army to throw Baron Page in the lava pits under the castle. Lord Bill then cast a spell on the Army that gave them the ability to remove memories from all those who opposed him. This was known as the Name-Tag War.

You are COBOL a former General who has devoted his life to serving Lord Bill, and he now wants you dead.
